ok so I have virgin media internet and I am on the slowest package which Is about 100mb up 50 down. when I am near the hub I get great wifi but the hub is on the other side of the house in my bedroom I don't get wifi and I have to use poweline adapters which are very unreliable and keep dropping out so my questions are. 1) would a switch and an access point/router in my room fix this problem 2) if so what equipment should I get

Virgin Media often has poor routers and weak WiFi coverage. I usually suggest using Ethernet when possible. If not, based on your budget, I’d install a few access points to improve connectivity throughout the house. An Ubiquiti solution could work, though it might be costly. Alternatively, you could set up an affordable AP, run an Ethernet cable from your router/modem, and connect to WiFi.

Are you sure you're experiencing faster uploads than downloads? I've seen Virgin Media offering 360mbps down and 20mbps up, but I'm open to swapping some download speed for a bit more upload capability.

I plan to connect an Ethernet cable to my room for PC internet while also using Wi-Fi for other devices. I’m considering Ubiquiti AP Lite and a switch, but I’m curious if Ubiquiti is the top option for home networking.

It also relies on how many people use the internet. I think it's a good investment. I don't own it, but I've set it up for family and friends. They haven't faced any issues. They experience real speeds and stay connected inside the house.
