I operate a tech support service in the Riverina, NSW, Australia. A customer bought a cash register from Ebay and needed help setting it up. Before my visit, nearby technicians couldn’t assist. Upon inspection, the machine lacked a manual and the model number spot was empty. I managed to program it by trial and error, assigning each menu item as a separate PLU for them to enter. Initially, they were satisfied, but later requested changes to simplify the process for their mother, who struggled with the PLU method. I adjusted it to use DEPT buttons, but since there are only 36 available, I had to group similar items and map them to specific keys. This was done without charge as a warranty fix for her inability to operate the register. They were content at first, though they recently asked if I could make another change—possibly inputting prices and selecting an item directly? I’m limited in my POS expertise beyond cashier use, so any reprogramming would likely require hours of trial and error. If anyone knows how to program this differently or has experience with similar systems, it would be a huge help. I’m also considering switching to a Square system or something comparable to avoid future issues, which could cost over $1000. Thanks in advance for your support!

It lacks a make or model because it's an extremely affordable, generic cash register available on Amazon for just $94. Upgrading to modern models would benefit businesses more than relying on such outdated options.

I didn't get back right away. They suggested a square system and mentioned they'd consider it during the Christmas break. Appreciate the assistance!
