I placed an order for an ID COOLING IS40 air cooler, but it didn’t include the plastic and felt washers needed for the screws connecting the MOBO to the metal bracket. I wanted to know if using a metal screw into a metal bracket with MOBO contacting both sides could be problematic. Should I still install the cooler, or are those washers essential? I reached out to the seller, who only gave basic installation instructions and asked for more advice.

Based on the reviews I saw, it seems reasonable to expect washers included. They usually avoid placing traces near screw locations, which helps prevent shorts. If they are provided, I’d feel more at ease with them installed. Regarding the screws, it would be better if they could fit in without gaps, ensuring proper heat sink contact. Would you like me to return and upgrade it for a better cooler?

For felt washers, a local hardware shop likely has suitable alternatives. With plastic components, precise dimensions become crucial, making replacements potentially more challenging to locate.

Amazingly enough, I managed to find some small plastic washers that worked perfectly and the install went great! This is my old build that I'm kinda fixing up for fun, will post pics when done. But this is a prime example of why you always keep extra pieces! Haha
