I own an Alienware Aurora R12 that I received during the holidays. It’s beginning to behave strangely when running multiplayer titles, as I need to install them on external storage. Can I upgrade the RAM and move my boot drive to a larger SSD at a place like Best Buy?

If there is expansion capacity inside, it might be easier to add another SSD to put games on and leave the existing boot drive untouched. If you don't know what's inside, give the full exact model number and it might be possible to look up what it can or can't do.

Start with the basics. If your storage is running low, consider upgrading your SSD rather than your RAM. They’re separate components. A larger SSD can usually be installed by any computer store, and some systems might even let you add another SSD directly on the motherboard if your setup supports it. The exact options depend on your motherboard model—like Alienware—so check compatibility before proceeding.

You can duplicate your storage to a bigger SSD and swap it in. Using a third-party tool such as the free Hasleo Backup Suite, you can accomplish this without visiting a store. As mentioned, the simplest approach is to install a new larger internal SSD, transfer your games there, and keep your original boot drive unchanged.
