The key graphical enhancements include a 1k texture pack, Realvision ENB, and Imaginator. Additional features are Pure Waters, Enhanced Wetness, puddles, Revamped Exterior fog, Distant Decal Fix, Snow and Rocks TEXTURES HD 2048p, Ultimate HD fire effects, and cinematic fire effects. There are also several smaller texture mods that offer minimal impact. I spent at least 12 hours adjusting .ini settings and using Imaginator to reach this quality. I also applied ForceWeather (or simply FW) 10d9ec to achieve the desired light weather in Whiterun, enhancing the visuals further. The recommended main .ini adjustments are: iShadowMapResolutionSecondary=8192 and iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=8192, which help eliminate harsh shadow edges.

I can connect you with all the graphics mods that work great on your system; I achieved 30 to 40 fps on my old HD 4870 Best Performance ENB with looks (personal taste); Project MATSO any Parralax mods; Tamriel Reloaded, Project Parralax High Quality Textures; I suggest a blend of 1024 and 2048 for your GPU's 2GB VRAM. These wood and ivy textures are essential. Mesh Edits; Real Roads and any armor mods you prefer Water mods; I recommend Real Waters V2 and the optional Plants/Waves from W.A.T.E.R

Will the new images compare favorably to your old ones? I don’t have time to fine-tune them in about 12 hours, but your advice on shadowmaps helped a lot—those blocky shadows were bothersome.

Yeah it will, I edited my post btw. DON'T set shadowmap to 8192 it's not worth the VRAM it uses, stick to 2048/4096 at most. The ENB will smooth out the shadows so they look more natural. I can upload my Skyim.ini so you can look at what setings I had set and edit yours if you like? To smooth out shadows and remove 'blockyness' look for the line in skyrimprefs.ini, iBlurDeferredShadowMask= and change to iBlurDeferredShadowMask=22 (the higher the number, up to 32, the more the blockyness is removed; I recommed that with 2048/4096 shadows).

I see, it's also wise to avoid making changes in the .ini file. Doing the wrong things there could cause Skyrim to become unstable.

I verified it runs smoothly at roughly 50-60 frames per second, even with Skype and multiple Chrome windows open.

Only the VRAM consumption changed slightly—from around 1600MB to 1700MB for me. Adding about 100MB extra is clearly beneficial in my opinion. Even with an ENB that improves shadow quality, setting it to 8192 will make the image look twice as detailed.

Using advanced mods and high-resolution materials can significantly impact performance, especially on an R9 280X with 2048 textures and maximum enabled. Performance drops noticeably between 4096 and 8192 shadows, with only slight improvements over 8192. I’ll check the comparison photos shortly.

The 660/760 features just 2GB of VRAM, and running 2048 textures could severely impact performance because it probably requires 3GB when additional graphics mods are active. I’m currently using only 1KB textures (except a few), so I have plenty of spare memory.
