The 5800X3D stands out for gaming, even surpassing the 13900k in certain scenarios, though it doesn’t shine much for productivity. A better pick might be the 13500 and b760, which offer solid productivity and feel closer to a 12600k. The 5800X3D still performs reasonably well and should match the 5700x in many cases. I’d recommend the bundle of the 5800X3D.

13400F and 12600K both feature six P-cores and four E-cores. The 13500 offers six P-cores plus eight E-cores. In multi-threaded tasks, the 13400F matches the 5700X closely, whereas the 12600K is roughly 20% quicker. On a single core, the 13400F outperforms the 5700X by 15–20%, while the 12600K is about 5% faster than the 13400F. For gaming, the 13400F is approximately 5% faster than the 5700X, and the 12600K is another 5% faster than the 13400F. The 13500 matches the 12600K in single-thread performance, is 20% quicker in multi-core scenarios, and is slightly slower in gaming. Whether the gains justify the cost varies by use case.

I believe a modest budget means choosing 13400F or 5700X since I unlikely need all the features of pricier chips. These should run much better than my i5 7500 while saving power.

Running on an i5-13500 gives solid performance across the board, but it seems like newer chips are outperforming them in today's games.
