Hello, I’m not brand new to PC gaming, but I’m not the best at finding parts. My old system isn’t up to the demands of modern titles, so I’m considering a fresh build. My goal is to enhance performance for the price, focusing on optimizations that would make a difference, and figuring out what setup would work best for gaming.

It really comes down to the games you mainly play. On certain titles the 7950x performs slightly better, while on others the 13700k shines. Most games aren't optimized for more than 8 or 10 cores, but since both CPUs offer 16 cores, the 7950x can utilize all available threads more effectively in suitable games.

In general, these configurations are quite similar. Honestly, I’d choose the more affordable option since both will provide solid gaming performance and neither is a major advantage over the other overall. The main point is that the Z790 boards might have additional features compared to the B650, but I haven’t directly tested that yet. You might want to compare Z790 and B650 chipset boards if you need specific capabilities. Probably, though, it doesn’t really matter which you pick—just go with the cheaper one.
