It's unclear. I wasn't an expert, but I attended a Windows Server course once. From what I know about updates in an enterprise setting, you can set up your own update server after confirming that updates work with your hardware and software. You'd instruct the server to distribute them to clients. However, this doesn't necessarily cover patches for all operating systems. I'm not sure how it's managed on Mac OS or Linux.
