You're considering moving your important files from the C: drive to a different location, but you're worried about breaking connections between folders like My Documents and D:. It's smart to be cautious about data loss. Make sure you back up everything first, just in case. Also, double-check that the links remain intact after the format—sometimes formatting can affect shortcuts or references. If you're unsure, a quick test on another drive might help confirm everything works as expected.

Yes, the connections will be refreshed. However, the documents should remain intact.

The actual photo/video/document file is stored on drive D:; if it's there, no information will be lost. You can view the files by launching Windows Explorer and accessing the drive.

The information from the additional drive remains secure. Make sure to reset everything back to the D drive after reinstalling.

Ensure the second drive stays formatted so data remains intact. You’ll have to connect all folders to the new reformatted C drive. Personally, I delete the secondary during OS installation to avoid confusion between drives. I once installed boot logs on the secondary instead of the main C drive.

Yeahhhh! This happened to me when I first bought my SSD in March haha. What a pain in the royal rear end. I uninstalled Windows, formatted, removed D: drive and went for it again lol.

We spent a lot of time, but we got the lesson right. I’m glad you noticed it early before you installed all the drivers and software.

The situation was: My computer wouldn’t start at all, even when the D: drive was connected. I recognized the issue immediately!
