She created the papers on a USB stick. If she brings it to her school, will the computers recognize the files and print them? I’m wondering if Microsoft Word can open files saved in Libre format.

Depends on the file type she chose. ODF is the standard for LibreOffice Writer, and Microsoft Word also works with it. Minor formatting issues can still occur sometimes.

PDF is the best choice when you don’t want to alter files before printing. Word often distorts formatting in ODF documents.
