Check your connection using speedtest.net for accurate results. Fast.com may show different speeds due to testing methods. Your ISP’s reported numbers vary, so compare them with real-time tests. Fiber might improve performance compared to older connections.

You aim to verify pings to various servers, expecting a range of response times. Testing involves reaching out to multiple servers, as each may return different latency. Pings are directed at another server, which influences the results based on your specific tests.

It seems you're unsure which service to use for speed testing. Fast.com and Speedtest.net are both reliable options, but the best choice depends on your needs. Consider factors like speed, location coverage, and any additional features you might require.

Your aim with the speed test is to determine how quickly data travels under different conditions. Many tests align closely with your ISP’s network, which can give an ideal picture. Fast.com tends to be more accurate because it relies on Netflix’s servers, offering a closer reflection of real-world performance.

I experience a quick 1 or 2 millisecond delay when accessing that site.

Always check several speed tests using different providers. Results change based on many internet conditions during the day. The main concern is understanding your specific issue. A lower ping is better, but 20-50ms works well for normal browsing and everyday tasks. As mentioned by @Electronics Wizardy, most ISPs have their own Speedtest devices or partner directly with Ookla, which often delivers very fast results.

As you move farther from the server, the ping increases, which may mean Ookla has a more nearby server than Netflix. I also checked various speed tests and noticed that fast.com indicates about 10 megabits slower internet speed.

People mentioned the issue you're facing or the challenge you're aiming to overcome. If you're only interested in measuring how long it takes for a data packet to travel to an IP address and back, the ping command is sufficient. The outcome varies based on several elements: - distance from server - server load (delays appear at the bottom of priority queues) - your own network usage, as high saturation increases latency. If you just need to check your internet speed, use any available speed test tool, run multiple tests, and pick the one with the smallest ping value—this usually corresponds to sites like speedtest.net. Remember, ping itself isn't a metric of your connection; it's a command that sends a packet and measures the round-trip time. Depending on what you ping, you'll see different round-trip times. Generally, speedtest.net selects the nearest server to provide optimal results for bandwidth testing. For more details: https://www.cloudflare.com/en-ca/learnin...-time-rtt/

Your connection speeds seem normal. For a detailed check, try pinging -t 8.8.8.8 with an option until stopped. This might help you spot delays when just pinging once. Keep it running quietly in the background. If lag appears in-game, switch tabs to it and notice if response times change. If not, the issue lies with your game servers.
