I’m preparing my PC by replacing the motherboard, CPU, AIO cooler, and RAM storage. The motherboard I’m using is an MSI Mag B650. My previous CPU was an Intel i5 8600K, now I have a Ryzen 7 7800X3D. The new AIO cooler is a Sharkoon S70 240mm. For memory, I’ve installed two 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5 modules. The last upgrade involved adding a Samsung 980 Pro SSD drive.

I encountered some issues fitting the cooler correctly. It looked upside down initially, but after checking instructions, it should work fine. When installing, I had to push and twist it in place. I’ll include a photo to clarify the process.

Other concerns: my case fans and GPU are still not properly seated. I’m unsure if I missed something beyond that. This is my first time upgrading both the motherboard and CPU, so I’m trying to stay calm but need guidance. Please let me know if I should double-check anything else or if you have tips for this setup.

24pin cable, verify CPU power cable, ensure block and tubes are aligned correctly—it should function but would look better upright. Inspect RAM modules to confirm they're fully seated. You might boot it using a display to check functionality without fans, as it has an iGPU and doesn't require a hard drive. Proceed to BIOS setup.

I’m preparing to install my case fans and test the system. This upgrade replaces the I5-8600K with a Ryzen 7800X3D, but I didn’t clean my drives before installing Windows. Can I still proceed after confirming the PC works? My old HDD and SSD still hold data, and the SSD contains my Windows setup—so I should boot into the previous version as expected, except for the new parts and extra space from the SSD.

I aim to start booting right away, set up fans next, cable management later—better to know it works soon! Perhaps check your boot drive history; maybe it didn’t switch from AM4 to AM5, so reinstalling Windows is a good idea since you’re moving from Intel to AMD. You can use the new drive for installation and copy essential files from the old one (like my Steam library).

You're asking about setting up your new SSD as the boot drive or using a USB with a media creation tool to install Windows. If your old drive isn't compatible, you might need to reformat it first before getting the PC running. Regarding the fan placement, your motherboard's fan configuration changed from sys_fan 2 and 3 on the old board to sys_fan 4 and 5 on the new one, but it doesn't seem to affect boot behavior.

Do you have two SSDs? Attempt to start using the older one, if that fails boot from a USB stick and install Windows on the other SSD. You can make a small (120GB) partition for that without fully reformatting. Regarding fan headers, labeling doesn’t matter.

Alright, I'm going to try booting now. I hope it works with my old SSD for benchmarking. Or are you suggesting I create a new partition on it? Thanks for understanding—I’m a bit anxious since this is my first time swapping the motherboard and CPU.

Alternatively, it might let you reinstall without losing any data.

Your PC is running smoothly and you're logged in as expected. Make sure all drivers are up to date. Check the pump—if you leave it unchanged, it should be fine unless there are known issues.

Great setup! You can leave the pump in place. The tubes above the screen look a bit messy, but they work. Your GPU model is likely the 3080. Reinstalling the Windows chipset drivers should help.
