Hello, new person here. Just completed my first build last night and got everything going properly, except for my pre installed case fans will not turn on/be recognized. The RGB lights come on and that's it. I've entered bios, tried playing with speeds, dc/pwm options, everything. Its like I'm missing a plug somewhere since they are completely unrecognized. At first, I didnt have the SATA cable hooked up in the back where the pre installed case wires/plugs are. I then realized I needed to hook up that SATA attachment to my psu. Doing that, the lights came on, and that's it. I messed with the tiny panel header plugs, but that doesnt seem to do anything for fan power. I see no spot to run a MOLEX to the preinstalled back wiring plate. I'm really stumped. It's like the SATA cable should power both the rgb and fans but it doesn't. Going to try to include some photos. I will comment when the issue is resolved so until then, help is GREATLYYYYY appreciated!! Mobo: Asrock b650m rs pro wifi Case: Montech Air 100 RGB
LOL... reset_sw cable should be connected to the two reset_sw pins on your front panel connector cluster of your mainboard.. together with HDD_LED PWR_LED POWER_SW etc.. if you pressed the reset button with it connected you might have shorted that argb hub. there should be a separate cable going from your argb hub to an argb port on your board.. it will look like the plugs into your hub. and a 2 pin connector on the other side. the cable hanging down looks like a good candidate.. RGB input ... what is on the other side?. a 2 pin connector?..

12-25-2016, 03:34 PM #3The reset sw cable on the back was pre installed that way and I almost contemplated on unplugging and swapping it to the front. The only free plug I have left is labeled argb input and it's a 3 pin. Looks like a gap in between so it's the width of a 4 pin. I have an addr led3 plug on my mobo right next to the right side of my ram for the argb input to possibly go but it doesnt say that's needed for fans to spin, just lights? I'm really appreciating these responses though, thank you!

12-25-2016, 04:00 PM #4I’d trace the cable path and see where it terminates. First, check the front panel switches. Then it’s likely a reset switch cable. Next, examine the RGB input cable—it should connect to your motherboard. The other end probably goes into a hub. Each fan typically uses two cables: one for the ARGB signal (unless it’s a special setup) and another for PWM control. It should connect to a PWM hub or splitter. Finally, the cables should reach one of your case fan headers on the mainboard. I’d search for any loose connections from the fans. If you don’t have enough ports on your mainboard, a splitter or hub might be necessary. Also, if all the connections are on your front panel, a splitter should suffice to manage all front fans through a single port. On the back of your case, look at the mounting bracket labeled SSD—there’s a white plug resembling a PWM connector. Try connecting it to a chassis fan socket on your mainboard; it seems multiple fans are linked via this port.

12-28-2016, 01:39 AM #5You're the boss! That tiny white 3-hole plug was right next to my SSD in the back of the case. Everything was all connected and it was securely fastened with Velcro. I slipped that white plug in after untangling it a bit into my CHA fan slot on the motherboard. It felt amazing! Then I moved on to troubleshooting my CPU temps . Maybe I'll return with a fresh topic soon. Thanks a ton for your help and support!

12-28-2016, 07:16 AM #6When using just three pins, it's not a PWM connector but a DC one. In BIOS you may need to adjust the fan port settings. If it's set to auto, it should function; if PWM is active, speeds won't be recognized.
