I recently purchased a Cyber Power PC from Best Buy a few days ago, planning to upgrade parts gradually. It came with a 3700x, 2133 DDR4, ASRock Challenger 5700X, and ASRock B550AM motherboard. I upgraded the RAM to DDR4 3600 with two 16GB sticks. After restarting the PC and entering BIOS, I changed the XMP profile from 2133 to 3600. When I exited and saved, the system didn’t boot or display properly. I reset the CMOS by removing the battery for about 15 minutes. Once everything was back on, it started up successfully. However, in Task Manager it still shows 2133 MHz and 32GB RAM. Any tips to adjust my RAM speed safely without risking crashes?

When the CMOS is clean, you need to restart the BIOS to factory settings. If XMP is enabled, select reduced speeds such as 3200.

Usually after a memory OC failure, you don’t have to reset CMOS. Allow sufficient time and the board will attempt the XMP setup three more times. On the fourth try, the PC will enter safe mode. There’s no sign of this without a diagnostic LED or screen display. Another approach is a hard shutdown followed by a restart, which usually puts the PC into safe mode. That’s fine. Prepare XMP settings, but lower the priority to 2933mhz (or 3200mhz as recommended). Additionally, manually set the memory voltage to 1.350v (higher like 1.400v is possible), adjust the SOC voltage to 1.1250v, and turn off Gear Down and Power Down modes. After achieving stable performance at the lower frequency, restart and go to BIOS to raise the memory speed gradually. Proceed step by step. Load Windows during each interval to check stability. Once you reach XMP speeds, perform a full test of the memory. This process should be repeated whenever you aim for XMP speeds without clearing CMOS.

Typically, it takes a few seconds for your PC to start up after turning it on. The exact time depends on your hardware setup. Those buttons or settings are usually found in the power menu or system settings.

Find power-off and low-speed settings in the memory timing section.

Are you unsure about handling the infinity fabric? Or should you stick with the auto setting? It seems like everything is confusing me a bit. Could you provide a simple, step-by-step guide? I’m not familiar with the bios or XMP settings, so any help would be great!

Infinity fabric remains active temporarily. Your question about starting memory was addressed to the best of my ability. Many setups don’t immediately apply XMP/DOCP settings. The board and memory controller require some adjustment time before DOCP profiles function properly.
