Hi,
I'm attempting to push my i7 3770k overclock. The BIOS lists 4.6 ghz, but when I run a stress test in Windows with cpuz, it only shows 4.4 ghz. I've looked into the power settings and confirmed it's set to balanced mode. I've only done this once before, and my i5 3570k did the same thing. I'm unsure what might be wrong—there are photos attached. I checked my research and settings, but I'm not sure what's causing this discrepancy.

I'm hesitant about updating the BIOS because I've heard some bad experiences with it damaging the motherboard. Since I regularly upload to YouTube, I need a reliable system. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as I'm still struggling to understand my process despite reading many articles.

P.S. My system is quite old, and I'm not sure if upgrading now makes sense. I just upgraded from i5 3570k to i7 3770k recently, but I can't tell if that helped. Thanks.

What issues arise from choosing 4.4GHz over 4.6GHz? The impact is minimal, possibly just a slight variation.

What version of Prime 95 are you employing? It might be related to an avx offset problem. I recommend avoiding overclocking until you thoroughly grasp how each adjustment affects your system and which parameters you must keep within for safe operation.

It's perfectly fine with 4.4 GHz, and I'm glad about that. I was curious as to why 4.5 or 4.6 wasn't functioning properly. I just want to make sure nothing is causing issues with the CPU.

it shouldn't explode or melt - it includes built-in safety.

From what I observe, it's version 29.3, build 1. I believe I should wait until I understand more about its functionality since I'm unfamiliar with what an AVX offset means.

Attempting to obtain p95 version 26.6. Newer releases employ avx instructions that often cause significant CPU temperature increases. To avoid throttling, the CPU reduces its speed by several hundred MHz.

26.6 is the standard recommendation. Following that version, as you mentioned, it employs avx.
