If I input 5.40 it will require me to enter 3.40, which is the bridge BIOS setting. That sounds fine. I'm currently at 4.60 and I'm thinking about moving to 5.80 next. I can't jump straight to 6.30 since I still have a 1600 installed.

You can reach 6.30 with the 1600, it will function perfectly. I’m not sure why they don’t suggest it on Zen1 because it does work—just the new Agesa doesn’t offer much improvement for the older Ryzen, even though it’s still functional!

I misunderstood the instructions, assuming a cost of 3.40 was required for 5.40 even though 4.60 was available. Actually, you'd need 5.80 before 6.30 to support the Matisse collection.

Sometimes they had to drop support for older CPUs because the BIOS ROM chip wasn't large enough to store everything. You should always heed bios update notes and don’t assume you understand better. No, updates typically apply all previous versions unless specified otherwise. In your situation it would have been 5.40 then 6.30.
