She managed to damage her own machine and it keeps asking for the password. I suspect she set one in the BIOS. You might need to reset it or use another method to access the system.

It should feel like it's using a system key... that’s not ideal, but maybe it’s happening before Windows fully boots up from the BIOS.

She could face issues if she uses the system’s standard login, especially if she can’t recall it. If the default setting is used, you may need to check the manufacturer’s options for alternatives.

There’s nothing you can do to restart or reset the laptop.

It seems your laptop's motherboard might not have a reset jumper, and checking the CMOS battery could help restore a password.

In most situations, it isn't feasible unless you have special expertise. I understand it's achievable with advanced knowledge, though. They can embed another password directly onto the chip when the original is stored, which is a strong security measure and considered effective.

The best choice is simply to attempt it. If she provides the password, there may be a chance to retrieve it.

Try back door password "Toshiba" , but without the quotes. You can also try holding the "shift" key when booting. And if that doesn't work, I've included a little something something here for you to look at. bios-spy.pdf
