Hello, I just moved to a 1Gb plan and have a Walmart range extender in my garage about 120 feet from the router. I’m getting speeds of 120-150 Mbps, which is acceptable, but I’d like to upgrade for better performance and wider coverage. I want a single network setup so my phone switches seamlessly between locations without any issues. There are so many options I’m overwhelmed—feeling like I’m just browsing YouTube without a clear direction. Can you help me narrow down what to look for? Thanks, Scott.

The eero line from Amazon offers a solid starting point. Search for models supporting Wi-Fi 6 for better performance.

Can you operate a wire connection? Mesh networks function but I doubt speeds will be significantly higher. A range of 120-150 seems reasonable in that area. You might be able to build or mimic a small network using identical SSID and password for the repeater.

It's essentially a mesh network with a mobile component. If it justifies the higher cost, go for it. Consumer Mesh was emerging during my networking days, while Netgear's Orbi and Linksys's Velop appeared to be solid options. They might have been the sole choices back then. Was Google experimenting with mesh technology? It seems to still exist today.

the garage stands alone as a distinct structure about 100 feet from the modem unless you're planning to lay a cable beneath your driveway—it just isn't feasible.

I checked that setup on Amazon and found this link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YT5G7M7. It seems they don’t offer a maximum spacing for the two stations while keeping strong signal strength.
