I was attempting to connect my unused floppy today and noticed a persistent clicking sound roughly every half second. The drive is a Teac FD-CR7-002 which also functions as a card reader. I've included a video showing the noise, which I can hear clearly even without opening Windows (version 11). Specs: Ga-Ma78GM-S2H motherboard, AMD Athlon 64 x2 5400+ CPU, 6GB DDR2 at 677MHz, GTX 745 4GB GPU, 350W ATX PSU, two DVD-RW drives, USB 1.1 PCI card, two fans. Thank you, Stephen. Win 11 on an AM2 Athlon 64? That’s tough. The video looks tricky because you’re constantly shifting it, but the power might be the issue (check the connector for the four pins above the ribbon cable). Make sure it’s in the correct position—it could damage it if flipped wrong. Constant seeking means the ribbon cable is likely reversed. If the light works and the cable isn’t keyed, try swapping it. Also, verify the floppy drive controller settings in BIOS are set to 1.44MB. This won’t fix the current problem but could help later if the drive functions. Overall, these drives are similar to optical units and aren’t meant for regular maintenance.

Absolutely, it feels like revisiting the past. I saved my floppy drive for as long as I could until mobile operating systems ended support in the mid-2000s.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm still trying to figure out what the 4pin did and why it stopped working after plugging it in. Let me know if you need help with that!

It's a bit unclear, but you're wondering about how Windows 11 operates on that particular system. I assume you're thinking about performance or compatibility issues. Would you like me to explain how Windows 11 functions in such environments?

Apologies for the delayed response. I’ve transitioned to a Ryzen 5 5500 with a new GPU. My sister disabled it, but it functions properly—slightly slower than Windows 10.
