I installed a 2060 super for Christmas on my PC, and the power supply suddenly failed. The fuse popped, but the casing remained intact. I purchased a GameMax 850W Rampage PSU—Semi-Modular, APFC, Japanese Tk main capacitor, 80 Plus Bronze, 88% efficiency. Based on my estimated power draw, I expected between 347 and 467 watts. I’ve heard that bronze-rated PSUs aren’t ideal, though it’s based on an American setup using 120V mains. Thanks for the advice!
The gamemax is essentially worthless. It claims to offer great performance but delivers little real value. Most of these units pretend to be powerful while actually failing after a short time. What you're paying reflects poor quality and outdated design. Japanese capacitors have been out of the picture since around 2005. The biggest red flag is the price—this model is significantly cheaper than comparable options due to missing features and using an old layout. It’s a clear sign of low standards. Please share your requirements and budget so I can recommend a reliable PSU that won’t harm your system. One recent failure already occurred, which might indicate existing damage. I have strong concerns about this brand’s reliability.
