Consider a mid-range CPU like an Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 paired with an ASUS M5A97. It should balance performance and cost while fitting your casual use case. Keep it affordable and reliable for gaming and light tasks.

PCPartPicker list includes various components. A CPU model AMD Ryzen 5 1600 (12nm) at 3.2 GHz with six cores is listed for $134.97 on Amazon. An AM4 motherboard from Gigabyte B450M DS3H is available for $76.98 on Newegg. DDR4-3000 memory in the form of two 4GB modules costs $44.99 at Newegg. All prices cover shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts, bringing the total to $256.94. This selection is a bit above budget but offers decent value. For savings, consider the used market—Ryzen 5 1400 or similar models are available around $80.

People might consider it a solid choice given the affordable price and low bottleneck potential.

The bottleneck calculator isn't very helpful. It's not the latest model, it's the 1600AF with a 12nm refresh, which works similarly to a 2600. The 9400F offers limited upgrade options, making it unsuitable.

Save a bit and receive: MSI B450 Tomahawk Max G-Skill Ripjaws V 3200 MHZ RAM 16 GB Ryzen 5 3600 CPU. If editing matters, this offers the best value right now—especially for gaming. Keep in mind: purchasing cheap items often leads to bigger issues later. The fourth-generation Ryzen processors work well on this board, making it the top choice currently. Upgrading here is smart; just avoid ASRock boards—they have reliability problems. The GPU might become a bottleneck after upgrades, but that’s manageable. You can switch GPUs later. Which power supply do you use? Could you share the brand and model?

Your EVGA 400 Bronze Power Supply is suitable for its intended load. For higher performance, consider upgrading to a power supply rated at 500 or 550 watts.
