Need assistance with a 750w or 850w power supply?
Need assistance with a 750w or 850w power supply?
Hello everyone,
I’m reaching out for your advice on calculating the total power consumption of my setup to ensure I purchase a suitable PSU.
Right now, I’m evaluating the Evga G2 750w and Evga G2 850w options.
Here are my system details:
- MSI z370 A-pro motherboard
- Intel i7-8700k at 5.2 GHz with 1.36 Vcore
- Four 8GB DDR4 Adata xpg 3000 RAM sticks (total 32 GB)
- Gigabyte RTX 2080 Gaming OC, boosted to 2050 MHz
- Four 140mm Noctua nf a14 ippc3000 fans
- Evga CLC 280 AIO cooler
- 500 GB SSD
- Two 2 TB HDDs
Given that both the CPU and GPU are overclocked, and considering I’ll be using the PC for around eight hours daily, I’m concerned about the power demand.
The G2 750w would be more affordable, but I’m worried it might not handle the load properly.
Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Even 650 is acceptable. I'll choose the most affordable option from the three.
Budget and country?
The G2 750W is sufficient for that configuration with overclocking.
Volkgren says it doesn't matter which one works best with that setup. An 850W unit would be preferable if you have another RTX 2080. I only use one RTX.

I didn’t mention that I’m based in the U.S., and the budget isn’t a concern—I just don’t want to spend an extra 40-50 dollars on something I won’t need.
The 750w is sufficient, but would there be enough room left?
