Hello! I just completed my new PC build a few days back: 5800X x570 MSI Tomahawk with Wi-Fi, 32GB RAM, 4x8 Corsair Vengeance Pro at 3600MHz, and Corsair H100 Elite Capellix. The case fans run about 40% speed. I updated the XMP profile on the BIOS, leaving everything else as default (PBO auto). I ran some benchmarks using Cinebench and am quite satisfied with the results. However, I’d love your thoughts since I’m not very familiar with this setup. My Cinebench scores were around 5950-6000 (73-75°) at 1.3x Vcore and ~4550MHz per core. For Cinebench r23, I got roughly 15200 (75-77°) with the same settings. From what I read, reviews often show better scores with default configurations. Could you explain why? Also, what should I consider when optimizing this build? I’m curious about increasing the core clock and whether PBO is suitable for OC on Ryzen. Thanks a lot! ♥

I’d consider using the PBO manual with 0 0 0 settings for the TDC EDC or motherboard limits, checking the outcomes. Personally, I think 75°C is a reasonable upper limit for more demanding tasks.

For non-multi-threaded tasks, the optimal method to boost performance on Ryzen 5000 is to ensure proper cooling and increase the maximum clock speed. On the 5800X this would mean setting it to 150Mhz when conditions allow, reaching up to 5GHz if needed. Many users have increased PBO settings, but temperature remains the key factor—you’ll likely overheat quickly before hitting power limits. That’s what I’ve observed. I’m also unsure how people manage to reach 75°C with just 40% fans on their machine, especially when it hits 85°C almost immediately under full load even with fans at 100%. With Liquid Freezer 2 240mm...

It’s really the first time I’ve seen stable temperatures from my CPU. Back then I was using a 4970k and it was about 10 degrees higher than most people claimed online. I tried all possible solutions but couldn’t bring the temps down. I think the performance is mostly random, depending on your AIO setup, paste quality, and how you install it. I have a front-mounted AIO with two fans for airflow, two 140mm fans at the top, and a rear exhaust. I used Kryo thermal paste for the AIO. That’s all I can share about my build.
