You're facing a tricky situation with your two identical render nodes. It seems like one GPU struggles with VRAM while the other handles it smoothly, even though the frame differences are tiny. You've already checked many things and are considering driver updates or downgrading CUDA versions. It might help to explore whether the issue is tied to the 3.5+0.5GB limitation, which could complicate things further. Trying older drivers or reducing the CUDA version to 6.5 could be worth a look, but make sure to test thoroughly before making any changes.

Check if there’s a setting to restrict virtual RAM usage for rendering. Consider adjusting it to 3GB or opting for a dedicated GPU with 8-16GB of VRAM for better performance.

The frames could be larger than 3.5GB, and the renderer might handle higher resolution formats.

No, I'm not familiar with that. It sounds like a better option would be the ideal one, but the K5200 is pricier than all six 970 models combined. It would also run slower than a single 970 and provides only minor benefits like 8GB of VRAM. 1920*1080*24 Bitmaps
