Need assistance moving from AMD to Intel OS?
I’m not very experienced with this, so please understand if it seems simple. I’m wondering if it’s possible to keep using the same operating system boot drive when switching from the AMD FX-6350 to the Intel 6600 without having to reinstall everything. I just need it to start up, and once that’s done I can reinstall later. Right now I have the components ordered and they’ll arrive tomorrow, so I’m trying to replace them without a memory stick or backup drive. It would be great if you could give me some advice on how to handle this situation.
The problem is affecting my entire budget, making it hard to afford anything for weeks. I don’t have a flash drive available at the moment, which is why I reached out, but thank you for your response. Are there any suggestions from others on how to resolve this situation?
When running Windows 10, it will simply restart and reinstall its drivers automatically. It’s recommended to remove the existing motherboard drivers before taking it apart.
Thanks for your feedback. Having multiple hard drives in the system could be beneficial—using one as a backup storage and booting from it might simplify the installation process. A system image can indeed perform a clean reinstall, resulting in a fresh start. Let me know if you need more details!
chances are pretty big that it'll "work", but i wouldnt recommend you do it at all.
It should function properly. I've moved parts between an AMD 970 and an H110 setup several times without needing to reinstall Windows. Starting with the new motherboard will be a bit slower initially, but that's the end of it.
