I've been working on upgrading my PC to W11 for over a day. I need to turn on secure boot, but it won't work unless the boot drive is changed from MBR to GPT. This keeps producing a generic error. I'm confused and exhausted. Could you tell me what more details you need?

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

If you're unsure, I'd suggest reinstalling Windows 10 after removing all drives except the one you want to install. Make sure to delete partitions from the main drive and consider backing up important data beforehand.

Hey! Thanks for your help in this situation.
Looking at the details, it seems to be a different problem than what was mentioned in your post.
The ESP partition size is set to 104857600, and the MBR2GPT layout shows a mismatch in boot partition count.
Disk layout validation failed for disk 0, and the layout validation also reported an incorrect number of partitions.
I’m not very familiar with these technical aspects, but I’m doing my best.
Also, I have another SSD that’s fine, but it doesn’t validate properly for the same reasons.
Please let me know what to do next.

Execute the MBR2GPT utility from the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) or a bootable Windows installation disk. Launch WinRE by pressing Shift while selecting Restart from the Start menu.

In the end, I abandoned MBR2GPT and invested the money in EaseUS partition manager.

I'm quite cautious about investing that amount in a subscription to ensure it meets my requirements. Yet, I find myself somewhat drawn to the option right now. How sure do you feel this will address your concern?

I purchased the "lifetime" edition. I don't subscribe to anything.
I'm not going to discuss whether it's a good idea or not.
What I want to say is that upgrading from Windows 10 to 11 helped resolve a few problems I had.

I personally wouldn't choose any of the options listed. Changing systems can be unpredictable, so I'd opt for a fresh installation of Windows 11 and begin with a clean setup. This approach offers the most secure and dependable outcome.

Remove active flag from C: partition. Use diskpart to list and select the desired partition. Consider extending C: partition beforehand, leaving only a small amount of space unallocated. The new EFI bootloader partition will be created nearby, making it impossible to extend C: partition afterward.
