I’m switching from a traditional hard drive to an SSD for your laptop. The SSD is currently empty, and you’re looking to install Windows without using a USB drive or DVD. You have a desktop PC with a SATA-to-USB port that can transfer files onto the SSD, and you want to get Windows on the laptop itself.
You can duplicate information from the HDD to the SSD with Macrium Reflect, or opt for the Windows Media creation utility to begin anew on the SSD, followed by moving the desired files from the HDD to the SSD.
I attempted it but it didn't work. I switched it on and off, tried legacy boot, and everything else. It's an HP laptop.
What model are you referring to? I used an adapter with a USB to SATA connection on your old pavilion, and it functioned perfectly after following the instructions.
It seems to be an older system with an i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 1TB hard drive.
You're likely thinking of the Pavilion model. So you suggested connecting both drives to your desktop and using Macrium Reflect, which worked well for me. I was really frustrated and confused until I tried it, and then tools like AOMEI for moving partitions proved very useful since Windows places the recovery partition at the end of the drive.
The challenge you faced was related to a specific problem. I can assist better if you clarify what exactly happened. I’ve dealt with numerous similar issues, mainly due to user mistakes.
