Hi, I just purchased Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and started downloading it. However, since I bought it on Steam, it’s preventing me from logging into another simulator (DCS) unless I close the download. Thanks!

Steam supports multiple games on one PC, but you cannot use two distinct Steam accounts or devices simultaneously to play different titles.

It's the identical PC I'm using, just need to enjoy DCS while the other one downloads.

Oh, you mean downloads within Steam. You wrote your post to make it sound like MSFS2020 has to be opened and running its own launcher or something to download it. If you're just downloading it in Steam, settings > downloads > allow downloads during gameplay

He uses its own launcher in Steam, acting like a built-in game. I just need Steam permission for both games to function.

Begin the process of downloading Microsoft Flight Simulator. In the lower part of the Steam window, there’s a button labeled “Downloading.” You can start the download while you’re in the library and switch to another game later.

Would you like it to download automatically? You should be able to skip gaming for a few hours.

I didn’t really experiment with this beforehand—just trying it on purpose. I’m pretty sure the Steam client will ask you to close another game first if you want to launch another one. That doesn’t mean you can’t open the executable directly, though—it’s something I haven’t tried and have no reason for. Steam is already buggy enough as it is, but you still need to figure out how to open two games at once, because it’s not obvious. PS: if it’s unclear, the Microsoft download feature must be active so the game can load… otherwise closing it would stop the download, apparently. (Don’t own it lol)

Based on what's available online, it should function properly. The first game should launch with the alt tab, and the second game should start afterward. There seem to be no major restrictions beyond your system capabilities. Just let us know how it goes, @gilad!

I’m starting MSFS now and there’s nothing stopping me from opening another title. Just make sure the download is complete.
