Need assistance determining the correct size of UPS.
Need assistance determining the correct size of UPS.
putting this in power supply cause not sure where else to put it but here are my parts.
nvidia gefore rtx 4070
i9 14900kf
asus prime z790-v wifi
2 16gb sticks of ddr5 ram
idk the brand since this is a prebuild but i have an io liquid cooler for the cpu and 4 case fans
if it matters running a 32" samsung curved monitor 1440p and an old LG 28" at 1080p
i apparently need to do a bios update and in my area we lose power randonly pretty often so I'm trying to be safe and get a ups first even tho my MB has that asus crashfree 3 tech, as some have said its part of the bios itself so may not work if i lost power during an update so idk if i trust it
in the past i was having alot of Bsod and had to go change settings in the bios to stop this which seemed to work kind of, i still get them from time to time. I never even thought about a bios update till now. wow gives this popup when i launch it now. I;ve also been told the without the bios update the 13th and 14th gen cpus degrade rather quickly.
The 13th and 14th Gen Intel processors have faced instability problems due to a manufacturing flaw. A BIOS update should take no more than 5 minutes, with a maximum time of 156 seconds. If you manage to identify a moment when power loss doesn't occur—such as during nighttime when overall grid draw is lower—you might consider flashing the BIOS then.
I've also been informed that without a BIOS update, the 13th and 14th generation CPUs tend to deteriorate more rapidly. They will still degrade, but the BIOS updates are intended to help maintain system functionality.
Regarding the power supply, it's unclear where else to install it, but here are the components I have:
You didn't mention the specific make and model of the PSU. That detail would determine the minimum required UPS setup.
If this concerns a UPS issue, then it's essential to determine the real amperage or wattage your system consumes during operation. You cannot properly size a UPS without understanding the actual load.
In the US, this approach is standard —

You may wish to visit the APC website.
They offer an app that helps determine your requirements.
There are two aspects to consider:
1. The amount of power required.
You might not need to connect all components.
2. The duration you require battery operation.
Short interruptions are manageable, maybe around 5 minutes for a smooth shutdown.
Working for an hour presents a different challenge.
After the app, I believe they will engage with you directly.
