Hey there! I'm a 15-year-old from Portugal who really needs some help. I'm sorry my English isn't great, but I'm trying to make this easy for you to understand. I don’t have much experience with gaming performance issues like CPU and GPU usage, so I’m not sure what’s wrong or how to fix it.
Two years ago, my dad gave me a pre-built PC. It worked really well at first—games ran smoothly. Here’s what I saw:
- Tom & Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege (high settings): about 65 frames per second
- Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (4:3 settings): around 270 fps
- Rocket League: almost all settings maxed out, about 73 fps
- World of Tanks (SD version): nearly full speed, about 61 fps
Today I tested how my CPU and GPU used while playing different games. The GPU was always very high—usually over 90%. Even when it wasn’t that high, the games would still run poorly.
I tried to check the bottleneck, but I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. My system details are:
- CPU: Intel i5-8400 (boosts up to 4.00 GHz)
- GPU: ASUS Pheonix 1050Ti (4GB)
- RAM: TeamGroup 1x8GB at 2400MHz
- Hard drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM
- Power supply: Tooq 500W EcoPower II
In FiveM, FiveM doesn’t let me use MSI Afterburner, but it’s super slow—sometimes dropping from 70fps to 25fps. When I opened Task Manager, the CPU was at 100% and the GPU rarely hit even 50%.
I’m not confident I can fix this myself. I just wanted to play with my friends in NoX Modus Blue with a 120mm fan. It’s frustrating because I didn’t know what was causing the problem.
Check if your system has any background processes running. Press Control + Shift + Escape to view Task Manager and confirm whether GTA V is using all the CPU resources.
Adding another RAM stick will definitely support dual-channel operation and make a big difference.
I'm in favor of getting the same amount of RAM. It really helps performance. Note: RAM is currently a bit too expensive, though NewEgg offers deals with regular pricing again.
Your 8GB of RAM might be the problem, as mentioned before. It’s a common issue. FiveM often includes many extra assets in the game that need loading from your hard drive, which can strain your RAM. You’re likely dealing with the CPU working harder than usual to fetch data from the disk and put it into memory. Also, make sure your temperatures are normal; if the CPU is overheating, it might throttle performance.
others use a 8gb module at 2666mhz, but the board itself doesn't allow RAM overclocking.
I also believe including a second matching TeamGroup 1x8GB 2400MHz stick or purchasing two 8GB 2666 units would be the best approach. Storage requirements are high because of the large amount of data being handled. A single 250-500 gigabyte drive might help, but it still adds significant space needs.
Consider your motherboard's limit and the RAM speed. Since your board supports up to 2666MHz, the Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro should work fine. Higher MHz RAM won't cause issues here; it will run smoothly at the supported speed.
