I haven't assembled my PC yet, but I'm considering installing a Ryzen 3800x with the AORUS Master B550 and RTX 2070 Super. I'm also thinking about adding a Corsair 1TB MP600. Since both components connect directly to the CPU, there should be no problems. I understand the B550 chipset features 20 PCI 4.0 lanes, with x16 dedicated to the GPU, x4 for M.2 SSDs, and the remaining lanes for the chipset. If I plan to add another Gen 4 SSD or more cards later, the GPU bandwidth might drop to half (operating at x8). Would this affect performance when playing games at 1440p? To fully use the PCI x16 bandwidth and add another SSD without impacting GPU speed, what options do I have? Could a x570 board help avoid this issue?
Similar games such as Star Citizen will experience a significant minor improvement (without an SSD, it becomes unplayable), but that's generally accurate.
No, currently sold PCIe 4 drives are all Phison E16 based and they barely go past 4GB/s reads while the best of PCIe 3 drives go past 3GB/s pretty easily. If it makes a massive difference, either wait till 6 or 7GB/s SSDs become common or buy more PCIe 3 drives and put them in RAID 0
