Your PC struggles with the game and hasn't been upgraded since 2018. It might be time to consider upgrading your CPU rather than the GPU. With your current specs (I5 86OOK, TUF z370- Plus motherboard, GTX 1070), the CPU performance is likely limiting. Upgrading the CPU could help improve stability and frame rates.

BF2042 is still experiencing optimization issues. It might be worth waiting a while if you're mainly upgrading just because BF2042 performs poorly. Still, improving your graphics card would be a good idea. The GTX 1070 isn't great at handling newer titles, particularly at higher resolutions like 1440p.

I generally run most games at lower resolutions for clearer details, but a new GPU might still affect your CPU performance.

Hmm alright, and in 1080p? If yes, then I guess the 1070 will do you good for a couple of years forward still. Yes, a new CPU would indeed help you, no doubt. But still, BF2042 is currently messed up when it comes to CPU optimization. Even folks with 5950X have issues with FPS drops to the 40s and 30s. So, if BF2042 is the only game making you wanna upgrade, I'd say hold on for a couple of months, wait for performance updates.
