Over the weekend I completed a lot of research and have decided on just two laptops. I’d appreciate a second view before making a purchase. Curious which one offers better performance for gaming and superior cooling or build quality. The Lenovo Y 50 at $1,149 seems reasonable. It features a 4th Gen Intel Core i7-4710HQ processor running at 2.50GHz with 1600MHz clocks, 6MB cache, Windows 8.1, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M graphics, 8GB DDR3L memory, and a 15.6-inch FHD LED display with anti-glare backlight. The hard drive is a hybrid 500GB with 5400 RPM and an SSD of 8GB. Battery life is around 54 watts per hour, and it includes Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, HDMI, USB ports, and a webcam. The battery capacity is 9 cells at 7800mAh. Priced at $1,199.99, it offers a solid build and decent specs for gaming. What about the other option?

I chose the Lenovo, even though the M290X is superior; the A10 is far inferior to an i7. Save yourself some trouble and opt for an SSD version of the Lenovo. By the way...when did AMD start making mobile graphics? I don’t recall seeing a laptop with an AMD GPU for the first time.

AMD has been working on mobile graphics since the DX7 era, though they aren't commonly used by anyone compared to NVIDIA—possibly due to power efficiency. The user might also consider Lenovo; whether you use an SSD or not is ultimately up to you.

Lenovo is right, most intense games like WoW rely heavily on the CPU, giving an i7 a clear edge over APU models.

Price matching on NCIX works differently depending on the platform. The Lenovo page you shared lists a model with a 4700 CPU and a larger SSD, while the Lenovo site shows a different configuration. If you try to match the price on NCIX, the system will compare based on the listed specs there. Since the CPU and SSD differ between the two listings, it may affect whether your match is accepted unless the exact details align.
