Need advice from a more experienced person? Your system is running at full speed on MSFS with the Ryzen 5800 X3D.
Hi everyone, I’m just starting out here and really need someone with more experience to guide me. I’m not very comfortable with computers, but I have some basic knowledge. I’ve done my best research so far, yet I still don’t have a clear answer. My situation is this: last summer I built a new PC just for running Microsoft Flight Simulator (I’m a pilot). After checking many sources, I kept seeing that the Ryzen 5800 X3D was recommended as the top choice for MSFS. So I bought it and set it up with: Asus Tuf Gaming B550, 32GB DDR4 RAM (2x16), RTX 3080 Ti, a 2TB NVMe drive, a 2TB HDD for backup, and Corsair RM850X power supply. The game ran smoothly until I tried the highest settings ("ultra" or "high") for some graphics. Then I upgraded to the RTX 4080. Assuming my system could handle MSFS well, I pushed everything to full capacity. I usually get around 35-50 FPS, but sometimes it drops to zero. The problem seems to be that my CPU is getting overloaded while gaming, causing spikes to 100% and freezing the video. I shared a video of this issue here: [link]. It plays fine until the freeze, then resumes briefly before freezing again. I can see the FPS drop in MSFS settings, and the Task Manager confirms it. Even though my GPU isn’t being used fully, the CPU is constantly stressed. I’ve checked my drivers and updated them, but reducing graphics settings didn’t help much—sometimes I have to lower everything drastically. I’m worried that with such a powerful card, maybe my settings are misconfigured and sending too much load to the CPU. I’m on Windows 11, using Resizable Bar in Game Mode, and I’ve tried enabling/disabling HAGS and DLSS settings. I’ve attached some screenshots of my configuration. I’m hoping someone can help me figure out what’s going wrong or if there’s a mismatch in components. My goal is to play MSFS as smoothly and beautifully as possible, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
