I recently upgraded my CPU to a Ryzen 5 5600 and considered increasing my RAM from 16GB to 32GB. With the ASUS ROG Strix B350F motherboard, what RAM capacity should I choose? I’ve heard that a 3600MHz CL16 is likely the optimal choice, even though the board doesn’t officially support that speed. Some users have managed to run smoothly at 3600MHz.
They’re not that expensive relative to 3200C16? Sure. But in most markets they are. When that’s the case, pick 3200C16. Those extra funds could easily buy a reliable vendor model with a solid history of using high-quality DRAM chips like Crucial (All Micron), Klevv (All SK Hynix), Team T-Create (Nanya or SK Hynix), G.Skill Flare X (Samsung or Micron) or Geil Evo Potenza Zen Edition (Micron). Unless you’re pushing the limits, go with the cheapest 3200C16 RAM. If the product details show the RAM sub timing, opt for 16-18-18-36 instead of 16-20-20-40 if available.
You might not require additional RAM unless you're certain you need it or simply want more space. It should work fine with 3600 or 3200 GB. Are you increasing to another 16GB or swapping it for 32GB?
I'm updating it for faster performance too, my present frequency is just 3000MHz
