Hey everyone, I’m planning to start university in a couple of months and need a laptop that will serve as my main tool for programming, light gaming, and lessons.

Here’s what I’m thinking:

- Budget: around 2000€
- Notebook size: any size is fine
- Screen resolution: any resolution, but I’m planning to use a bigger 27" monitor
- Portability: I want a portable one first, then a gaming one
- Battery life: as much as possible, I might need to turn off the GPU if I run out of power
- Gaming: yes, I’d like to play games on it
- Preferred settings: mostly indie games and some AAA titles depending on my GPU
- Other tasks: video editing, programming, general use (like YouTube or lessons)
- Storage: at least 1 TB, either SSD or HDD, plus space for other drives
- Preferred brands: tell me which ones you like and which you don’t, with reasons
- Location: Italy
- Extra info: I’d like a USB-C port to connect to a bigger monitor. HDMI is limited to 60Hz, so I should be careful. No MacBooks—I’ve already spoken with my university about requiring Windows or Linux laptops.

Visit the Lenovo website for Italy:
https://www.lenovo.com/it/it/pc
Focus on the thinkpad X1 carbon units.
They are extremely lightweight and feature excellent keyboards.
Lenovo in the US is regularly running promotions.
If you reach out to a sales representative on the site, my impression is they can provide more than what is displayed online.

Just looked at it and for 2000€ (current price with Lenovo Esummer or something similar), it looks like a huge waste of money. It has 14", no GPU, soldered 16GB RAM + just one M.2 slot. No software included (neither Office nor even a temporary Adobe subscription). The price is ridiculous given what it offers (just an i7-12P, and even if I talked to support, they won’t give me a big discount).

Speaking of Lenovo, the Legion 5 seems more fitting for me, though I’m not sure.
