I completed the build and transferred parts to a new case. I installed a fan hub and attempted to access BIOS, but it kept opening to Windows even with advanced settings. I tried flashing the BIOS, though it reported an update, but nothing changed after reboot. Then I removed the power cable and cleared CMOS using a jumper. After that, my PC won’t enter BIOS or boot normally—it’s stuck on a black screen with no beeps or sounds. The system specs are: Asus Z390 Strix e Gaming motherboard, Corsair DDR4 16GB at 3000MHz, Nvidia GTX 980 Ti, Evga G2 Supernova 850W PSU.
I mostly went through these actions. The most surprising part is that the computer ran smoothly until I reset the CMOS settings.
Are your HDD/SSD connected to the motherboard? If yes, attempt to take it out; ideally it should boot you into BIOS. After clearing the CMOS and removing the SSD/HDD, if it still doesn’t display BIOS, there might be a hardware issue. Try removing one component at a time—start with the HDD/SSD, then RAM, possibly the RAM stick, and finally the graphics card—to identify the source of the problem. Remember to inspect all motherboard cables, as they could have been misplaced during fan installation.
I've adjusted this setup, no BIOS updates needed. It feels like the motherboard had a serious problem with the BIOS, and resetting it fixed everything. I can't post again now.
Uncertain if you damaged the motherboard, particularly with CMOS. Consider resetting it again, and also turn off the PSU switch. Should that fail, try clearing it from the battery for a longer period. I only reset my CMOS once on an old desktop from 2010-2011, and the instructions asked to disconnect all PSI-connected hardware, shut off power, remove the cable, then clear it.
