Last night I experienced an unknown BOSD with the error WIN32_KEY_SECURITY_FAILURE. My friend suggested it might be due to overheating the CPU. What does this mean and how should I handle it?

Not sure there is not that much info online about it. Is your CPU overclocked? Maybe thats the problem.

I also experienced CPU temperature problems recently, though they weren't severe (around 95 degrees seems to be the threshold I reached).

Check if the cooler is properly mounted (thermal paste has full contact with the die). Also, you didnt post any more details of your config/setup. I would also check the memory.

Reviewing your CPU temperatures is simple and cost-free using tools such as HWInfo. However, this issue can also arise from other common causes. Outdated or corrupt drivers, malware presence, and failing to update drivers are typical culprits. If temperatures remain within safe ranges, consider performing a malware scan with software like MalwareBytes. Even then, the root cause may still point to driver updates. You might also attempt to run Sfc/scannow from an elevated command prompt.

I'm preparing to organize your hard drive and remove all files, then reinstall the necessary drivers.
