I was playing a video game when suddenly the screen started flickering right after my computer crashed and I had to restart it a few times. Finally, everything just died completely and the CPU light stayed on. I tried reseating my RAM, changing out the old video card, and reapplying thermal paste to the CPU, but nothing helped. Here comes the weird part: even after fixing those things, when I turned back on, the CPU light was off, but instead of seeing a blue light for the CPU, I saw a red light that said DRAM. All my parts are about 3 months old except my RAM and motherboard, which are like 6 or 7 years old.

what processor do you use? what about the memory, the power supply, and the graphics card? what other chips have you tested this part of it with?

Now I'm using a Ryzen 5 5600x processor, a 6800xt graphics card, and a 750-watt power supply. Everything is the same x-series motherboard (B450) from my last build. The only thing that changed recently was swapping out for a Ryzen 5 2600 processor and an RX 580 graphics card—which are just parts leftover from my older setup. I've been gaming fine with these new components until now, when something suddenly started happening.

do you mean the B450 MB motherboard? Try resetting the BIOS settings using your old processor, then see if it boots up okay.
