I own a gaming laptop, purchased four years ago. At first the Wi-Fi was unstable, but after restarting it, the speed returned to 100 Mbps as advertised. However, shortly afterward it dropped to just 2 Mbps. I assumed the issue was with my old laptop since my phone functioned normally, but then I set up a dedicated PC and it worked perfectly until last week when the same problem occurred. I’m unable to stream or load pages quickly. I’ve looked into solutions for intermittent internet issues, but none seem to help. It seems unlikely the recent activity on my devices caused it, as I haven’t visited any new sites recently and have always used the same ones. Please assist me.

It's important how many gadgets connect to a single device. Besides that, there are other factors like microwaves, baby monitors, or anything operating in the 2.4GHz area.

A reliable connection comes from a solid network cable. For consistent performance, you must use a strong physical link. WiFi often falls short in stability and speed compared to wired options. It’s mainly suited for devices that rely solely on mobile internet access. You might invest a lot in a high-quality WiFi setup, but it can’t match the consistency of a properly installed Cat6 cable.

A suitable router for around 30 to 50 dollars usually works well. With the rise of the internet of things, many gadgets rely on it. In my case, Xiaomi routers are popular, but you should verify availability in your area.

Verify your Ethernet link for stability before proceeding. Next, execute a wireless scan with WiFi Analyzer (available for free on the Microsoft Store) on the affected PC. Capture screenshots of the 'Networks' and 'Analyze' sections, detailing the 2.4GHz and 5GHz band results.
