My PC has a black screen and my fans are spinning, but I've tried every possible fix so far.
Hello, so I had this problem for a long time. When I try to play RDR2 or Atomic Heart, my PC just crashes (things like audio glitches and a black screen while the fans keep spinning). It feels like it's an issue with power or something else, but I can play many other games without any trouble (GTA V, RE8, AC, Witcher, Plague Tale). Basically, almost every game works fine. In separate stress tests (checking GPU and CPU), nothing crashed. The 3dmark scores were above average. Memory passed memtest, even though it crashes when I turn off power supplies. Both the GPU and CPU stay at normal temperatures during testing. My GPU is connected with two separate 8-pin connectors without splitting them up. I have a clean Windows installation with no corrupt files. All my SSDs are at 96% health and run just as well as they should. Power plan is set to high performance. There was no overclocking or UV light on. I tried reinstalling drivers, even installing only the drivers. No overlay software; I only use AMD Adrenaline + RAMDAC on the GPU and the company sent me a new one but it still crashes. I am really thankful for any help here. Which RX 6800 do you have? Does it come with a BIOS switch? Try turning that off while the system is down, then try the game again after installing the AMD driver. Did you enable "Free Install" before pressing install? What's your BIOS version? Is it 7E26V1K4? Have you reset the BIOS yet? How old is your power supply unit? What resolution and detail level did you pick in RDR2? Did you reinstall the drivers again and try with standard settings?
Hey, so my graphics card is from XFX but I don't know exactly which one it is. I haven't even tried changing that BIOS switch yet either. Also, I can't use a splitter because I don't have one for sure. My BIOS is running the latest stable version 7E26v1J. I've already reset the settings and cleared the CMOS battery, but nothing has worked. The power supply unit is about 1.5 years old, right? It only crashes when using the highest graphics card settings, but if I lower everything down to low resolution and a lower setting, it doesn't crash at all... so maybe it's just my PSU? I tried stress testing the PSU with OCCT which makes both the CPU and GPU run hard (100% load) for about 3 hours. It didn't crash that either. But since this isn't like playing a game where power might spike suddenly, I'm not sure if all of this matters or what it means at all.
You mentioned using two PCIe cables. Just plug in one cable that has two connectors. Then try updating the BIOS through Beta mode. Maybe that setting is just not compatible with your graphics card, so you might need to change other settings inside the game to see which one causes it. Also, switch out a different power supply brand or model.
