My PC crashed while playing Dolphin. I have a reasonably powerful PC and have previously run these games successfully. What are possible causes?

I am shifting my focus to hardware. When I encounter the term “auto shutdown,” I primarily consider the power supply unit. If the computer were experiencing overheating, I would anticipate a permanent shutdown rather than a restart.

My PC has run these games for a while, as I have stated repeatedly. Are you considering that my PSU could be failing and causing my PC to restart? I was on Dolphin and it crashed again. When I attempted to shut down my PC after it rebooted, it crashed once more so quickly I couldn’t shut it down until it restarted again.

My temperatures were stable and within an acceptable range before the system crashed. A temperature issue is unlikely, as the fan exhibited excessive activity.

Specify the manufacturer and product name of your power supply, and indicate its age. A potential solution to your problem involves defective RAM; testing can be performed with the complimentary version of Memtest86 found at https://www.memtest86.com/.

I own a Corsair CX Series CX430 430W power supply, which I have used for approximately five to six years. I will perform Memtest86 later today and provide an update.

I recently completed Memtest86 and found zero errors. Prior to running the test, I was browsing the web and experienced one additional crash without any gaming activity; this indicates a worsening issue. It is not attributable to overheating or RAM. Should I conduct another Memtest86 for verification?

Random crashes typically indicate RAM; I’d expect random BSODs, not hard shutdowns/restarts.

My PC has experienced no random restarts. However, I haven't engaged in intensive activities such as gaming or utilizing demanding applications. I am confident it will experience restarts if I attempt tasks requiring significant system resources.
