GT 1030 performance depends on your CPU in games such as Minecraft and CS:GO. I haven’t tested it on my C2D/A64 systems recently since they’re stored long-term. Minecraft has increased its CPU demands, making it less efficient. It might reach around 60 FPS at a close distance, but that’s uncertain. I’d likely choose the most affordable used 1030 (DDR5) or a 750 model available. It probably won’t justify the cost, as newer CPUs with higher speeds won’t fit well. Around 2.6ghz was the last time C2D had a manufacturing change, and older boards for these chips often can’t handle newer versions.

I increased my CPU speed from 2.4 GHz to 2.77 GHz, but I'm not sure it will have any impact.

I revised the earlier comment. Overclocking won't significantly help unless you're exceeding 3.2ghz.

I'm doing fine now with 8 chunks, getting roughly 110-200 frames per second. I kept it at 60 for the 70 fps frame drops.

A GPU won't significantly boost your frame rate in most games unless you're aiming for a much higher resolution while keeping the same FPS.
