I own a Minecraft server with my sister and it functions when her computer joins our network, but now she resides with my brother and can't connect. I've forwarded port 25565 to my PC, yet some online advice suggests the unmanaged network switch between my computer and router is causing issues. The switch allows both my PC and my dad's old desktop (now on the living room TV) to be connected simultaneously without extra cables. Is this the sole solution, or are there alternatives to connect the server without purchasing a long Ethernet cable?

It's just a simple connection point, handling packets without adding value beyond basic routing. Make sure your port forwarding is set right and the server is active on that port.

I checked the page and saw the port listed as closed. That’s likely part of the issue with my current setup.

Yes, that's the IP address you provided. It seems you've configured it as a static setting.

The server.config specifies that 25565 is the proper port.

The next action would involve turning off the Windows Firewall entirely and checking if the port appears open during testing. Ensure the Minecraft server is active at that time, as it will be necessary for a response to be received.

The port remains marked as closed, while the server is active.

The firewall turned off across all three accounts? Are there any antivirus programs that support a firewall feature you could temporarily turn off?
