So, when my fan was spinning even while I wasn't using my laptop, it got really hot, so I thought I needed to clean the dust, change the thermal paste, and maybe change the thermal pad. I usually do this once a year. After I brought the laptop back from repair, I noticed that in a game like God of War, the frame rate went down instead of going up, making it feel less smooth now. But on the other hand, the fan isn't spinning as hard as before. What could have caused this? How can I get my laptop to run faster and smoother again? Also, I never upgraded anything, didn't force turbo mode, or did similar tricks myself.
You might need to measure the temperature and send those readings in to see if your device is getting too hot, which could cause it to slow down or stop working properly.

Edit 2: after a GPU driver update and a few restarts, all games now work as expected. Forza Horizon even recognized some change and did that optimization based on my hardware, like during the first run. Anyway, weird that driver would affect this since the driver I had was running the same games for the past month, but glad it's fixed. I'm hoping no unexpected issues will occur again.
