Hello, so I just got an Asus Rog Strix G17, put Windows 11 on it, and now I can't find my WiFi. The little icon in the bottom right looks like a globe but clicking it doesn't show any wifi options. When I checked Device Manager, there is no wireless card listed at all?
Where did you get the installation file for your computer? When it comes to drivers, if you are working with this specific laptop (like the 2022 model), you should grab them from here: ROG Strix G17 (2022) | Gaming Laptops|ROG - Republic of Gamers|ROG Global. This machine uses an AMD Ryzen™ 9 6900HX processor, an NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3080 Ti Laptop GPU with MUX Switch and lighting, plus fast DDR5 RAM that can reach speeds up to FHD 360Hz or QHD 240Hz. You might also want to check your current BIOS version just in case something needs updating. rog.asus.com uses a donor system and an USB drive.
I got Windows 11 ISO from Microsoft. I also got the Realtek LAN driver from them, but nothing worked. I still can't connect to my WiFi. Sad feeling here.
You can just use Windows Media Creation Tools to make your installer instead of having to source an ISO first and then using Rufus or another app. Can you tell me which model number you want? There is a choice between 2021, 2022 and 2023 versions for the G17.
I just made a USB stick using the media creation tool, but now I can't get Windows 11 installed on my laptop. When it asks me to connect to a network, it only shows ethernet options and says there are no wifi networks. I don't know how to skip this part either.
Why don't you plug your laptop into the router using an ethernet cable? You can do this as a quick fix while you set up Windows 11. Just grab that cord and connect them up, even if it's only for getting drivers or the OS installed right now.
Haha yeah, now it works! Oops, my mistake... I clicked "Show all" under "Networking" on the download page because I needed the wireless drivers. Just grabbed the first one (the LAN driver) instead of checking more options, and that's why it didn't connect properly.
