Hi folks, I have had this problem for some time. Have gone around and around with Dell Tech Support to no avail. My Dell G7 laptop randomly shuts itself off. Event viewer gives the following: The process C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe (DESKTOP-61C3S6T) has initiated the power off of computer DESKTOP-61C3S6T on behalf of user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM for the following reason: No title for this reason could be found Reason Code: 0x500ff Shutdown Type: power off Comment: It produces no Memory.dmp file nor are there any Minidump files. Dell is determined it is a Windows 11 problem and reinstall of Win 11 will fix it. I have reinstalled Win11 with no fix. Anyone got any ideas or answers? Thanks in advance.

Why doesn't tech support seem scared of admitting their hardware might be broken? They often take care of things instead of telling you it's your fault. Honestly, I'm not sure about the cause here. One thing to try is making a new admin account: delete the old one and make a standard user account. Then log in as that new one and see if the problem goes away. You might have already used the Dell support tool?

Thank you for all the ideas sent my way. I also checked the help desk option but it didn't work at all. Thanks for taking care of me!

Computer keeps shutting down and starting up again. My friend's PC is doing this all the time. It happens when he plays games or even while watching YouTube. The Event Viewer showed that a program named superuser.com was messing with C:\Windows\system32\winlogon. One suggestion was to turn off hibernate mode if it is plugged into power. Another idea is to try floating the laptop higher on some wood blocks. This might give it more breathing room and stop the weird restarts from happening.

The computer isn't sleeping, restarting, or going to sleep mode. It simply turns off. The Dell is left sitting there on its own block, stuck about 2 inches up in the back. The unit gets really hot and I think that's the problem. But the Dell says no.

I recently bought a Dell laptop. I looked at the trust check page to see if it works well. I took out the Alienware software and put it back on again. The computer started crashing when I did this. My heart is hoping everything goes okay. Thanks so much for your advice!

Download HWMonitor (free) and check the temps while the laptop sits idle, then again when it's under full load. Take screenshots of what you see on the screen for both cases. If the laptop has been around for a while, it might just need a good wipe down. Make sure the fin next to the fan (or fans) is free from dust and clumps so that airflow stays moving through that heat sink. That's where all the cooling happens and you really need clean air getting past those fins.
