My laptop is acting up. It crashes if I bump it, and now it won't turn back on after that.
I have an Acer Nitro laptop that works fine most of the time, but it has one annoying problem. If I bump it or move around too much, or even press enter with too much energy, it crashes hard. Sometimes when I try to restart, just a few lights turn on before nothing happens at all. After restarting 2 to 4 times in a row, it starts working normally again. I'm not really an expert, but I've checked my hard drive for errors, reinstalled Windows, blown the dust off with compressed air, and looked around to make sure no wires are loose. I also checked the temperature after crashes, though none of those things seem related to how hard I use it (like turning it off for a long time). I haven't seen any error messages either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My first thought is that something is loose. When I bump the laptop, that thing moves and makes a short. This leads to a crash. Maybe moving depends on how tight it is. Hot and expanded means tight. Cold and contracted means loose. You might get some clue from Reliability History or Monitor, or Event Viewer. There could be an error code, warning, or just info showing up right before the bump causes the crash. Reliability History/Monitor is easier for regular people to use. Also, it shows a timeline which helps find patterns. Event Viewer takes more time and effort to learn. To help: https://forums. The entries in either tool can be clicked for more info. That info might or might not be helpful. My idea is to try carefully controlled bumps with the goal of forcing crashes. Look for a pattern that happens often and leads to a crash. = = = = Note: back up all important data somewhere safe, like another computer. Make sure that data can be recovered and read correctly.
