My laptop keeps getting really hot and uses up all its power while it's asleep. Before, it would stay in sleep mode for days. https://ibb.co/Qrr0ZjG Hi! I've been using an Asus zenbook q408 for a year already. The laptop gets super hot when playing games. Yesterday, I was playing bl2 with my 4k monitor attached (it wasn't that hot when I played games on another screen). Windows just crashed with this error: "clock watchdog". forums.

You know about that weird thing with Windows. If you turn your computer off when it's plugged in, then take it unplugged, the battery might get bad.

Thanks for the quick reply. Could you tell me what kind of bug this is? I can try to fix it later so we can know if it works or not. I have turned off fast startup in Windows. Usually, I use my HP Z32 laptop with a Type C monitor and also turn off sleep when closing the lid on both battery and power. I press the Start button, then Power, then Sleep to go into that mode too. The screen itself goes into sleep mode and cuts power to the laptop, so yes, it sounds right about this bug. Besides all that, Windows puts my laptop to sleep after 30 minutes whether it is on battery or plugged in.

what drains it is called this: standy mode S0 low power idle when the network is connected, also known as modern standby. this happens right now when your laptop sleeps but the charger is plugged in. if you take out the charger, it should switch to S0 low power idle with no network connection, and that's why draining the battery faster. so before putting the laptop to sleep, make sure to unplug the charger or go through this guide on how to disable modern standby in Windows 10 and Windows 11. this tutorial will show you exactly how to turn off modern standby (S0 low power idle) so that S3 support works properly on a Windows 10 and Windows 11 device. In Windows 10 and Windows 11, there are two power models for PCs: S3 and Modern Standby (S0 Low Power Idle). The S3 power model is an older standard and... www.elevenforum.com

The one thing that actually works is cutting the power before you shut the lid or turn it off.
