My internet stopped working when I tried to stream on Discord.
Why does my internet cut out every few minutes just when I try to share my picture on discord? I am using an ethernet cable, and my speed is fast at 500 Mbps download and 200 Mbps upload. Everything works fine while I'm not streaming, but as soon as i start sharing my screen on discords, the internet completely goes down for a few seconds right there with just my pc. This happens every few minutes only if i start sharing my screen. I have a ryzen 7 3700x with an RTX 2080 and 16gb RAM
How would you tell if things are slowing down? Sometimes the start-up speed is super fast, but later it feels slower because the screen fills up with old pictures that take time to clear out. Also, what kind of picture quality and smoothness settings are you using when you're sharing right now?
The internet on everything goes down for a few seconds. For example, if I am playing an online game like FIFA, it disconnects me from the game when that happens. It also happens when I stream YouTube or Twitch. I check the Task manager under the performance tab and see that the Ethernet is gone for a few seconds before getting reconnected again.
Do you have internet connected through wifi? Maybe try using that for a data point. Your wires might need to be updated, so don't use the old built-in drivers in Windows for ethernet or wifi. Go to your computer's manufacturer website and get the right drivers. In Device Manager, make sure to uninstall the current ethernet and delete the box next to it. If you have any Killer ethernet or killer wifi installed on your machine, remove all their programs and as much junk as possible.
